In the areas of hungarian and mixed hungarian-slovak settlement, three-voice bagpipes of the hungarian type were used. The diferrence between these and the pipes from Podpolanie is represented by a small hole at the top of the melody pipe. It is called a flea-hole and is used to vibrate tones and to play chromatic semitones. When open, it raises the pitch of any tone fingered a half tone. A chanter with the fleahole has, in comparison with other bagpipes of our country, diferrent fingering and playing style. Some of such instruments, that were used in slovak areas, had the fleahole glued up with dough or resin.
